w2k tomcat 5.5.7 jse5

I added a category to general and then tried to delete it , the delete failed no error message just didn't delete.

after that i could not add to general , only administation which would allow deletion.

however now clicking on forums gives very long stack trace on screen.

I'd like to get this to work , feature wise Jforms looks great and easy to install , just a bit unstable at the moment.

anyway as said previously can switch jdk / tomcat to help track down problem but need to work with jse5 / tomcat 5.5.7

Ok, there is still a related problem with 2.1.3.

Basically if you create a category for only General , ie you don't allow admin access then the same exception will occur in forums admin section.

seems logical that admin needs access while in admin mode.

I can't see why admin would not want access so shouldn't admin be set and locked by default ? that would fix it.

The main problem here is that if you forget to give admin access then you get the exception every time you go to forums menu.

You can fix this and get rid of the exception by saving the admin group permission after giving access back to the category.

not critical but a bit ugly.

I'll fix that.

About admin access rights, in a future version you'll be able to allow access to just some parts of the Admin Panel. This is interesting when you have multiple forums / categories and different people to manage them.

"Admin" is just a role that enables the user to access the Administration Panel, but, as any other user / group, you may choose to now allow him to see some data. Currently this behavior does not apply to JForum, but, in the future, will

It's all right here, so the "Creating Categories Fails" is redundant. I wouldn't mind if you deleted it

thanks again for a great app and support.
