Error in the installtion when "Begin Install" is clicked.

I am installing JForum at HostGator where Tomcat is behind Apache.

I am receiving an error which is listed below :

You should look into Tomcat's logs. There you'll find the real error. This stack trace dont' tell us where the error is.

Do the following step for reinstallation

1. remove jforum-custom.conf under WEB-INF/config
2. restart Tomcat before installing jforum

I've met this kind of error too. So the best strategy is to restart Tomcat after you copy the stuff of jforum into webapps.
