Hi,

I created a Read-only forrum or the General Group (Selecting General in the question 'Mark as read-only to these groups:').

I experienced the Admin user (belonging only to the Administration Group) can not add messages to the forum.

So I was wondering how/who new messages can be entered in a read-only forum ?

I use MYSQL4.1.7.

Read-only forums are not supposed to have messages anymore . However, admins should be able to add to it, I guess.

Hi Rafael,

thx for your answer.

I would like to use read-only forums as a kind of 'knowledge base', where visitors can just do a search and read the topics, and the Admin can update the forum with new topics.

Your answer did not make clear if this should be possible and if the Admin cannot update the forum is a bug (or normal behavior).

It would be very nice if it would work.

Regards,

Stefan

Then do that:

For the Administration group, disable the "Read Only" forums (eg, select "Allow All" in the "Read Only" section). For the other groups - more precisely, "General", you mark the forum / forums as read-only.

Then, regular users will not be able to post new messages, but admins will.
