Yes, many. They use a complete different architecture. Also, JForum is much more time available as a stable and reliable system.

I've been reviewing java-based discussion boards and I ran into JavaBB. It looks identical to JForum... What is the difference between the two? Is there any? Just curious....

Yes, it does look like a young project, but a promising one. Did you ever work on Hibernate integration with JForum? It seems to be a key distinction you two.

There are some hacks to use hibernate and JForum, but I never tried - I just know for relates that arrives to me .

The pure JDBC implementation of JForum is working fine, and the ammount of maintance is minimal, so I'm not personally focusing on Hibernate right now.. Maybe in the future

I agree that maintaining JForum's data access layer is very easy. Rafael, any reason for ripping things apart to add Hibernate support?
