If the servlet container used here is Resin-3.0.12, do I need modify web.xml or leave it unchanged. Anybody's comments on installing will be appreciated.

If you are putting JForum under the same context of another web application, then you'll have to merge both files.
Otherwise, you don't need to change anything.
