Do we need to keep the "Powered by" statement at the bottom? As I'm going to start a commercial forum, we can not afford to keep the "Powered by" statements, please advise if that is required. Also, to encourage JForum developers, do you accept any donations?

Well,

there is no strict rule about this kind of credits, although a reference to the project is always interesting, because it states the importante of the project, helping to promote it as well.

But, in the end, it is up to you. We do our best to make JForum stable, secure and fast, with a reasonable good code base.

On the other hand, if, after your comercial board goes online, you allow us to put in our website that "Website X uses JForum", that will be great.

About donations: we basically don't provide a visible paypal link or similar because the few people that would like to contribute will not be able to afford considerable ammounts - historically, open source projects get $10, $20 one or another time.

I, personally, have my Amazon Wishlist, which I found more valuable than a few bucks.

We give professional consulting services for JForum, which is how some money is made sometimes.
