I've just added a link to JForum to my large index of forum software at http://thinkofit.com/webconf

I was wondering if JForum is the same JForum that Proxicom was selling several years back and then dropped? Or is it entirely different and just happens to share the same name?

It's a complete different "JForum" - indeed, I wasn't aware of Proxicom's JForum.

It all started from my Java User Group (http://www.guj.com.br). Back 3 years ago we were using phpbb as forum engine, and of course a lot of people complained about it - how was possible a java discussion wesite running phpbb?

So I took for me the task of creating a decent / good forum engine in Java. The current version 2.1.6 is the result of all of that so far

Thanks, I'll make a note of that on my web site.

By the way, if you've got a place here on your site to put a link to my list of forum software, I'd appreciate it!

Yes, I sure will. Currently we're collecting websites that use jforum, to put on a "case studies" related page on the main site@!
