Hello,

I am under Ubuntu Dapper 6.06:
Tomcat 5.0.30, Apache 2, MySQL 5
Port for Tomcat 8180!

I am a JAVA Noobie.

I can log to the Tomcat homepage to the Manager and the Admin Part; Because Ubuntu uses the 8180 port I have modified the jforum/WEB-INF/config/SystemGlobals.properties to change the port from 8080 to 8180 (even without doing this I get the same error).

I did on the folder "jforum":
chmod -R 777 jforum
chown -R tomcat jforum

I have both tried the automated and manual install. I also created the MySQL tables for the manual.

http://localhost:8180/jforum/

I am stuck. This is the error message I get:

Looks like a problem of installation.

Have you tried to reinstall it?

Tomcat 3.x support only Servlet API2.2. For run jforum you must use servlet container 2.3 or higher.

Got a similar problem. I'm not sure it is the same.
I case it might help someone:

I had a line in jforum-costum.conf like

dao.driver=net.jforum.drivers.mysql.DataAccessDriver

I removed it and the problem was solved
