So what's the correct way (in a jsp / javascript) to do the following:

1) determine if a new posting exists already for a given topic in a given forum
2) if in #1 a topic doesn't already exist, I want to create it.

This would require some API to access those processes which currently does not exist. I believe something is under development atm to expose this functionality however.
