Hello,

While using jforum as the engine for GUJ (www.guj.com.br, brazilian portuguese java forum) we have lots of htreads that are originally about a topic and ends up with lots of even unrelated sub-threads on other subjects.

What if JForum provides a way to the user to start a new topic as a 'fork' on the original one? In terms of modeling I think it would only be a matter of adding the concept of 'parent' to a topic and while displaying the page it could shows in the subtitle something as 'this topic is derived from <TOPIC TITLE>'.

Also would be nice to move posts from a topic to other.

What about?

JForum already allows you to move posts. You could manually fork the message and move posts as necessary.
