I tried today to install current release of 2.1.7 and got the following stack trace when starting JForum.

Please advice how to update existing MySQL database.

Did you run the 2.1.6 to 2.1.7 SQL script to alter the DB table structures?

I did as follows:

1. Backup the forum using DUMP.
2. Perform the upgrade script.

Then, after executing the upgrade script, the forum starts, but I don't see any messages in the forum. May be the DELETE commands in the upgrade script remove also some important dependencies?

If I restore the forum, then I miss all changes made by the upgrade script, since the DUMP command generates an old DROP TABLE/CREATE TABLE sequences, which restore the old tables structures.

What do you think?

That's right - the upgrade script removes all access rights, except the admin one. I'm finishing the documentation for the upgrade steps.

After running the script, log in as admin, and grant all access rights to the groups again. Please do this carefully, in order to not give the wrong access to some group.
