How to add "recent topics" to the main page "forum_index"

Does anyone know how to modify the main page to add "recent topics" to main page ?

The contents of the recent topics page? You have two options: put an iframe pointing to the url, or add the code of RecentTopics.java to ForumAction.java, list() method.
