Hi,

In my installation message formatting is not working properly.

here .. if I want to apply bold or color to my text ... I select the message and apply.

But in my installation I selected I applied

but ... I get message then tags
like this

For bold.... i get
message[b] .

Allow html is set true both in user profile and forum configuration.
Included b, color etc., tags in my configuration

Pls any one help me to resolve this.
Thanks,
Razia

hhm.. your message starts ok, but gets confusing in the middle. I'm not sure if I understood the problem.

Message formatting is not working.
If I select the message and apply bold , i get message [b] instead of the font being bold.
Like that, for all formatting I get the tags at the end of the message.

The configuration and settings are such that it allows tags and html formatting.

Pls help me as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Razia

Sounds like you want "Word" style editing. E.g., select a subset of text (like that) you have already typed and then have the formatting applied to the selected text.

Currently, jForums "editor" does not support that. It does support putting your cursor in the start location, selecting the format, then putting it in the ending location and selecting the format again.

I haven't looked recently but about a year or so ago there were some nice commercial apps you could drop into the templates that would do this. At that time there were a couple of in the works open source "Web based editors" being developed. Probably, there's a fair assortment of open source tools (mostly related to blogging software) available that might do what you want.

Some issues around this sort of editor are that some of them "stretch" the new browsers security rules. So your users may have to have notice that they will need to install or allow things to happen when the browser complains.

Thanks for your clarification, Monroe.

But in this real jforum the same is working.

I first typed then selected the text and applied the style.

Is this facility not available for others who want to use jforum in their application?

Thanks,
Razia

This is an improvement we made after the release of version 2.1.6
