Admin Index Bug

Hi!
Some times the site www.jforum.net is not available
At this moments is inpossible to open an "Admin Index" in Admin Control Panel (it seems it go to check he forum version and can't find a source site)
I tried to comment (and also delete) the updates checking in welcome.htm, but it not help - it still to try conect to www.jforum.net

I don't think we will do anything about this for 2.1.7, but maybe in 3. We've had some problems with our server on www.jforum.no.

Maybe we will move the check to https://jforum.dev.java.net/ which should be more stable.

You can disable version checking. Here's a thread that talks about how:

FWIW, the admin index will come up if jforum.net is down, it just takes a minute or two for the connection to time out. Perhaps this feature could be taken off the main index and made into an admin option... e.g. check for updates.
