It would be nice to centralize all the startup stuff in a context listener rather than in a servlet init. This makes it easy to ensure that all jForum init info is done before the first user request is processed. ( and eliminates the first request startup delay). I personally don't think that the first request startup delay is an issue. And, if someone wants to avoid it, just have to add <load-on-startup> to web.xml
