I have only recently started using JForum and ran into a few problems ( some still not resolved) for which I tried to find answers here in the forum.

But upon reading through the postings it seems that some posts never get answered (where a developer *really* should reply), some issues that were reported fixed, simply aren't. (the absence of the HSQLDB jars in latest release for example).

I have posted a message announcing to do a translation and some questions about this to which I get zip response. I am quite far in doing this translation but it makes me wonder if I should continue or not.

I understand that developers are busy, but surely letting people know what the current development status is of version 3.0 or maintaining the latest release would be nice.

Don't get me wrong, I really like JForum and also very much appreciate the work that has been done in the past years but I would just like to know what's up at the moment.

We try our best to answer the questions that are sent to our forum. But as you might see we get a lot of questions all the time.

We now that the routines for making releases is not as good as they should be. The project has went from being just Rafael to a team. We are working hard at the moment to establish a more waterproof organisation all over.

HSQLDB missing from the distro was clearly a mistake. I will look into that.

I agree! And we are working on it. But it takes a while to establish all the routines and systems we need to collaborate as a team. We are still at the beginning of the JForum 3 project. We will announce news about the progress in this forum shortly.

A lot! And I know that we have been like a silent wall in the past. Maybe we should consider a montly update newsletter or something. I will discuss that with Rafael.

Thank you for your views!

/Jakob

Hi Jakob,

Pff.. quite the relief to know that things are still boiling under the surface . A monthly newsletter sounds like a good plan. Posting a message regarding progress in the Announcements forums is also a good one, since
the last message posted there dates from two months ago.

Anyways, I have completed the Dutch (nl_NL) translation and will post the info (and files) in the right subject, along with my findings and (small) issues I have come across while translating.

There are a few other small things about JForum that I think could use some improving, and over the next few weeks I will likely add those to the svn version.

cheers,
jax
