Hi all,

I have completed a full translation to the dutch language of JForum based on version 2.1.7
The included zip file contains all files needed and can be extracted to your JForum installation directory. The dutch version should be available then, but please read my following remarks first.

Before installing this language there are a few things that need paying attention to.

  • I was not able to get the installation running in the dutch language for some reason. The choice for nl_nl never showed in the dropdown list, but I was able to force it to use the dutch language by specifying it in the url.

  • Part of the JForum is not correctly setup in a multilingual way. There are two files I had to edit in addition to the language file. Those two files are permissions.xml and bb_config.xml. Pemissions.xml contains part of the admin interface and will not affect the forum otherwise. bb_config.xml on the other hand contains the regular expressions that replace things as the img, code and url tags used in a typed message to its html counterpart. I only had to translate the quote regex, for that seems to be used for all languages. Please keep in mind that by replacing those two xml files, part of the admin interface will *always* be in dutch, and a quote wil always say 'theName schreef:' where it used to be 'theName wrote:' nomatter what language was chosen

  • Make sure you have a backup of your working installation *before* extracting the included zipfile.

NB. The zip file also includes the dutch style, images and email templates.

Given the information posted earlier in this thread and my remarks made earlier I think translating into arabic shouldn't be too much of a problem. Character set and direction of text might be a bit of a pitfall though.

I don't speak or write arabic so don't look at me for this one though. :-)
