I am an infant when it comes to this stuff and unfortunately have no where else to turn. I have Confluence running and would like to add Jforum to the same server and database. Either as a link from within Confluence (preferable) or as server.com/jforum context. But I don't know how. I've followed the link to the Tomcat page and followed those steps but it still doesn't work. I've read, searched and tested and I'm still at square 1.

Can anyone help PLEASE???

Specifics:

Confluence 2.2.8
Tomcat 5.5
Windows 2003 Server
PostgreSQL v 1.6.2

John,

I can't offer advice but think I'm in about the same situation so maybe we can bootstrap. I'm running Confluence and JIRA under MySQL on headless Intel Mac Minis, OS X.

My biggest challenge in getting Both Confluence and JIRA up under MySQL had to do with permissions so I'd check that first in your JForum installation.

How far did you actually get and how did you set up Tomcat before you ran into a wall ? What are the symptoms ?

I think JForum is a perfect complement to the awesome Confluence-JIRA capability so I really hope to get past these startup problems.

Glad to see your response. We are running Confluence under Windows 2003 Server using PostgreSQL at the moment. I have a plan to move to MySQL in the very near future as well.

I've actually haven't made much progress in the Tomcat areana. A few documents, mostly from the Apache website, have given some instructions on activating servlet stuff, but the changes they suggested prevented Confluence from starting correctly. So at this point I don't have an active JForum site yet.

I have an internal resource that might be able to help but he's tied up on a project until mid next week. I will definitely let you know what I can as soon as I can. Hopefully between us we can get this hammered out.

Hi John,

I ended up punting.

I really need the capability and after looking around some more I switched to trying to install phpBB http://www.phpbb.com/ this morning. I now have it running and largely configured.

I'm happy. Hope you get your forum installed witout any more frustrations.
