Numbered list?

Using the "list" bbcodes gives me a bulleted list, with too much space between items.

[list]lklkj[/list]
[list]sdfsdf[/list]
[list]oiuoiu[/list]

Unlike what I see here:

lklkj

sdfsdf

oiuoiu

I have to leave out the line breaks to get it right.

[list]lklkj[/list][list]sdfsdf[/list][list]oiuoiu[/list]

How do I get a numbered list? If I use:

<ol>
<li>sdf</li>
<li>lkj</li>
</ol>

I see all the code, even if I've enabled the ol and li in HTML.

<ol>

sdf

lkj

</ol>

And, in my 2.1.7 installation, it did NOT translate the <ol> to & l t ; o l & g t ;(without spaces)

<ol>
<li>sdf</li>
<li>lkj</li>
</ol>

Is this a version-specific thing?
