hello,
i am new to JForum...i downloaded the source code of
JForum3, but when i tried to compile it is asking for
several packages like .... package net.jforum.cache does not
exist....package net.jforum.cache does not exist...so
on....these packages are no where to be found in the
CVS....any help in this regard willbe of great use to
me...thankyou.

It won't compile for a while. That's normal on this stage of development.

I'm new here. I know this kind of devpt is quite big endeavour.
I'd like to participate and integrate jForum portlet(s) into a JSR168 portal.
It seems some heavy ground is being done for JForum3 vs 2.17.

How much will JForum 3 differ from current 2.17 from an integration point of view. Could you points us to some docs about this.
Are there stable interfaces APIs to JForum features that will simply be carried over from 2.17 to 3.0 that we can rely on?
If not what is your expected amount of changes on that end.

Could you also clarifies what is the JF 3 source code managment and devpt env to use. I see both CVS and SVN, CVS having broken ant build.xml and SVN tree, simply not having ant environment.

I certainly need to read more dev.java.net and jforum.net to figure this out. Any good starters' pointer list will be greate.
