(2.1.7 installation on Windows) When a user registers for our forums, his account is created then he is redirected to the User Admin page where he can edit any user account he desires!

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, where have I gone wrong with the configuration settings?

I need new users to see the confirmation page, not be given admin rights and shown the user admin page... :!:

Please help

The only things I can think of are:

Maybe the "general" group, which all users get assigned to, has been granted administrator rights. Check this under the group permission page.

Or the default group id number set in the config files has been changed to / or matches the admin group id.

You were absolutely right. The "general" group was mistakenly given administrator rights.

Hopefully it won't happen again!

Thanks for the prompt help.
