I am new to jforum but have installed it several different times using Tomcat and MySQL 4.0.25. It works great everytime , EXCEPT, I can only create 9 forums :? . The 10th forum I create gets added to the DB, but is nowhere to be found on the screens. What do I need to do to see 10 or more forums? Is there a default limit or cache or something that needs to be set?
Thanks! [originally posted on jforum.net by schris10]
I installed jforum-2.1.7-b3 and configured it for MySQL 4.0.25 with Java 1.4.2 and Tomcat 4.1.24. Simple to do and it runs perfectly and I have Category Test with Test Forum. So then I go to Forums -> Insert New and type F2 for forum name (it defaults to category Test) and I leave everything else alone and submit it and sure enough now Category Test has 2 forums. I repeat that to create F3 - F10 and everything works great until the 10th forum. It disappears.
So, like you said, maybe it is permissions. It shouldn't be, because I have not done anything with them, but I went to Groups -> and permissions on Administration group. And sure enough, F10 is restricted. So I changed everything to Allow All and submit and F10 is still missing... so I went to permissions again and my changes won't save. F10 is stuck on restricted.
Thoughts on that? [originally posted on jforum.net by schris10]
Which Category are F10 & F11 under? If they are under C10, you have that Category flagged as restricted.
I was able to create 11 Forums named F1-F11 under a Category in JForum 2.1.7 and they all show up fine. And none of the forums are "stuck" on being restricted in the Admin Console. See attached screenshot.
F10 and F11 were created under Category Test. The reason you see categories C2 - C10 is because I was testing to see if the 10th category disappears like the 10th forum does and it disappears also. It disappears because somehow permissions are set differently than 1 - 9, but I click allow all for everything and submit and the allow all setting never takes. I guess I need to upgrade MySQL to 5 and Tomcat to 5.5 because there is something wrong with 2.1.7 with MySQL 4.0 and tomcat 4.1.24.
First I'm going to try my existing versions of mysql and tomcat with an older JForum to see what happens. It is tougher to upgrade mysql and tomcat because I'll have to wait for my web host to do it.
