Does anyone know why there are two configuration files (SystemGlobals.properties and jforum-custom.conf) to configure e.g. mail?

systemglobals are those that can be foudn in any installation
jforum-custom.conf does not get commited to the application itself, but... is generated locally for every user depended installation. it contains the user/application specific settings with usernames and password informations that should not be committed to a central cvs ;)

Hence: jforum_custom.conf overwrites the systemglobal.conf settings

Hi Sid, thank you very much for the info - sounds reasonable. I didn't think of a problem like that. But - yeah - of course.

Just one more question - is it possible that you meant 'overrides' instead of 'overwrites'?

You definitely don't need to pardon. I'm not native in english, neither. (I guess most people are not.)

I just wanted to clarify things for me.
