How're "hottest topics" determined?

Hey folks,

I think I've asked this before but couldn't seem to find the original post (it was long ago, and I don't think I got an answer, so bear with me).

Anyway, I was wondering what classifies a topic as 'hot'? Is it determined by the number of replies, or the number of visits, or a combination of both?

This is defined by the TopicModel.selectHottestTopicsByLimit query. This defaults to the topics with the most views.

FWIW, you can redefine this by changing the query definition in your <database type>.sql file.
