Hi,

Is it possible to sub-group forums further than category -> forum -> topic?

What I would like to do is effectively make folders, for example:

Cat A/1970s/1971/Topic 1
Cat A/1970s/1971/Topic 2
Cat A/1970s/1972...
Cat A/1970s/1973...
Cat A/1980s...
Cat A/1990s...

Cat B/...

etc. etc.

Thanks for any help.
Matt

Sorry, but you can't do that in the current version. I know that Raphael was going to write up some thoughts on how to support this in 3.0 but I don't know if it's gone any farther.

OK - didn't think so, but just wanted to check.

As it is, I think clever use of permissions might let me get the effect I want - it'll just look very busy when viewed as an administrator!

Thanks for your help.

Regards
Matt

FWIW, since it seems like you have a fairly consistent and "parsable" naming convention, you might be able to "fake" it using some FreeMarker code. E.g., In the forum index page, you can modify the template scripts to add in the HTML to show the "19xx" psuedo category prior to the actual forums.

In the admin, the grouping is still by the top level category, but in the index looks like sub categories.

Add in some div's around the various sections with some Javascript to hide and show things to make it nice and collapsible.
