Hi,

Just a quick question as I came back to the forum after a years long pause... is there any option to set all messages/forums as read so I can start all over? I looked for the common places and was unable to find it.

Thanks

Actually, there is no "unread" message tracking in jForum. The icon's actually a "new message indicator" that indicates a message was created or updated after your "last visit". So, if you log out and back on... the messages should not be marked as "new".

I see. OTOH, that means that unless you read all you "unread" messages on a visit, you will easily lose track of them. Are there any plans to add the "tracking unread" messages option to prevent that?

Just as curiosity.
Thanks

Not that I know of... mostly because doing this would be add a lot of data storage issues (each user now has to have individual records for each topic or possibly posting). Plus it possibly would be a big performance drain. (Each screen now has to calculate individually which postings have been read or not) This raises scalability issue for a server based app, unlike e-mail where that is being stored/calculated on the local machine

That said, there's probably someone who can figure out how to do it efficiently... code contributions always welcome.
