I just downloaded and installed this, and I am a bit puzzled on 2 things:

1) Once a forum has been created how do I change its permissions? (from what I can tell when logged in as admin), I can only set permissions when the forum is initially created.

2) I created an announcement forum, such that only admin has permissions (or rather both general, and admin have permissions, but general is marked as read-only). I would expect that when I'm logged in as admin I would be able to add a new topic..but the New Topic button never pops up. I must be missing something?

Permission are really based on groups rather than forums. The rights you see when creating the forums are just a short cut to setting these rights in the groups.

So, to set / re-set rights, you need to go into the individual groups and change them there.

As to your admin problem, verify that the admin group does have the correct rights and that your admin user is not a member of a group that has this right denied.
