JForum extension?

Hi all,
I just installed JForum and have some questions regarding developing some add-on to JForum:
- Does JForum have modifications like in other types of forums? I want to have a Rss Reader in my forum, is it included in JForum package?
- Is there any documentation of structure of JForum? of how it works? I have looked through online documentation but couldn't find necessary information.
- What are the steps to develop an extension to JForum?
