I'm preparing for a demo I'll give in my JavaOne talk titled "The Web on OSGi: Here's How". The demo will be showing how to add a plugin system that uses OSGi to an existing application. We use this plugin system extensively at Atlassian, but it is also Open source. For the existing application, I'm thinking about using JForum.

From looking through the code, JForum seems like a good match as it starts up quick, and is pretty straight-forward architecturally. What I'm curious about is how could JForum best use plugins, or more accurately, what cool plugins could I write that would make my point

I'm pretty new to JForum but from a quick glance, I'm thinking:
* Servlet filter plugins. Could show off a sitemesh plugin, a caching one, and maybe an auditing one
* Servlet plugins. Could show off a new page or REST service.
* web item plugins. A plugin could add links to menus like global actions or the profile page.

For more information, see the Atlassian Plugin docs or Confluence's plugin types.

Thanks in advance...
