As a greenhorn. I started learning Java by reading Core Java Fundamentals. However, when it come to Event Handling, I become confused in this book. I wonder if this book is suitable for greenhorns to read?
I also downloaded The Java Tutorial, since it is based on Netbeans , and I still like coding with Eclipse.
Someone told me that I should try some small project as much as I can instead of learn too much grammar.
I'd like you give me some advice about my next step of learning Java. I stop at Event Handling, now.

I wouldn’t recommend Horstmann and Cornell to beginners. It goes too fast. I would suggest you should try event handling; you cannot write a decent GUI without event handling.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
