I want to create a database driven menu system that will populate a menu depending on the current users permissions. I have the idea of a table that would hold the collection name and another that maps sub menus to this parent menu item in collection. I would then map user types to the collection, defining whether they have access to this. The problem is im new to this kind of concept and I cant quite grasp how this would map to objects in java and just wondered if anyone could point me into the right direction.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

So you need to know how ORM (from Hibernate) works?
