Hi all,
I've been developing mobile apps for a couple of years. Previous to this I was a J2EE developer. I'm now looking to head back into the J2EE arena and I'm wondering what the best skill set to have is? For instance, are struts and hibernate still useful, or do I need to train up in some other framework?

Thanks for any advice

Angus

The first thing you should do is drop the 2 from J2EE. Since Java 5.0, the 2 is dropped from both JSE and JEE.

The most important question is, what skills do you still have? Do you still know servlets and JSP? Do you know JPA, EJB, etc?
I do know that JPA and EJB have changed quite a lot. You hardly need XML files for configuration anymore, instead you can use annotations for that.

The new terms are Java SE and Java EE. I would recommend Java EE tutorial (http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/6/tutorial/doc/). It has changed a lot since J2EE.
