Hi,

I would like to know how to compile a jsp file before deployment.

Your container may or may not supply this capability. It is not part of the JSP Spec and there is no standard way to do this.

Look up the documentation of your container.

The J2EE compiler will convert a JSP on first invocation to native Java and compile it.

You can find these in some tmp folder (at least on JBoss).

Some containers offer tools to pre-compile so as to avoid the first time performance hit.

Do a search on JSP pre-compile.

There really isn't any such thing as "the J2EE compiler". The JSP translator is part of the servlet container, and is specific to each container.

This article describes the process.
