SMS Notifier example working differently in device

Hi All,

I was trying out a simple SMS notifier to get an understanding of BroadcastReceiver. The following code, works fine while running in emulator.

        public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
             Log.i(TAG, "Intent recieved: " + intent.getAction());

                if (intent.getAction().equals(SMS_RECEIVED)) {
                    Bundle bundle = intent.getExtras();
                    if (bundle != null) {
                        Object[] pdus = (Object[])bundle.get("pdus");
                        final SmsMessage[] messages = new SmsMessage[pdus.length];
                        for (int i = 0; i < pdus.length; i++) {
                            messages[i] = SmsMessage.createFromPdu((byte[])pdus[i]);
                        }
                        if (messages.length > -1) {
                        	String msg = messages[0].getMessageBody();
                            Log.i(TAG, "Message recieved: " + msg);
                            FileOutputStream fos;
							try {
								fos = new FileOutputStream("/sdcard/test.log");
	                            fos.write( (msg+"\n").getBytes() );
	                            fos.flush();
							} catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
								// TODO Auto-generated catch block
								e.printStackTrace();
							} catch (IOException e) {
								// TODO Auto-generated catch block
								e.printStackTrace();
							}

                            
                        }
                    }
                }
           }

Whereas, while running in device, It runs as a loop and runs "n" number of times where "n" is the number of SMS messages in the inbox.

Is it a known problem?

Am I doing something wrong?
