Are there any issues when using Struts with EJB3(session, persistence), or is it just like the typical "no struts, jsp/servlet/ejb3" combination?

Yes. Struts doesn't care what persistence framework you are using. This assumes you aren't using Struts/JSP database tags. But that's poor practice anyway. It's much better to have a separate layer.
