I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.

a) Do you have a document and you want to generate a HTML page that lets a user download that document?

or

b) Or do you want to generate a document from scratch?

Also, the part about a table with borders really confuses me, how does that relate to your question?

Hi,

I know how to create a document but I need to generate a document with table that has only right and left borders through PHP......I played with this scenario in many ways......... some worked in open office word processor but not in ms word or vice versa.....I need a document which should work in both.......

Now did you got my question??

I think I understand now. You are doing option (b) and have it working for the most part. But you can't get that specific type of table to work the same in both Word and Write. This seems to be more of a question on document formats that on PHP so I won't be much help.

By the way, what document type are you generating? .doc? .docx? .odt? Rich Text Format?

Are you using some library to create the document? If so, which library?

The more information you provide the more likely that someone can help.
