I'm taking a look right now at the web page that corresponds to URL "json.org/javadoc/org/json/JSONObject.html". It looked pretty interesting to me so I wrote the following code:

When I tried to compile it I got a compilation error that said "package org.json does not exist". Does this mean a {JSONObject} can only be used in Java 1.7? My current version is 1.6.0_23.

No you can use it with 1.6_<<Any_SubVersion>> also. You should have json lib/jar in your classpath. You can easily download it from sourceforge
