First of all, it is 'Swing' as explained in the FAQ.

You can go thru this tutorial to understand sockets. Read is, start coding and post back if you are stuck.

Hi,
I have created my chat application using kryonet jar file. it is working fine now. I have a doubt, each time i am running server program in one of my local system and other systems in my LAN has to connect it. It is ok. But my doubt is how to run the chat server program only one time(not for every user request) until the application server/web-server closes.
I have to call this chat application in an applet.

I have no idea about kyronet.
However, I think you should be able to run the chat server and leave it running...have you tried it?

Sure, just install it as a Windows service or Unix/Linux daemon.

What did you find out by googling? You didn't even mention what OS the app would be running on, so 50% of what I might write would be wasted.

Tanuki is indeed the standard Java Windows service wrapper. Not sure what you mean by the comment about its license.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
