Hi all, I am working on web application which will be hosted soon. Still it is in design phase. The requirement is there will be only one application with two entry points. Say

www.chaitanya.com
www.karthik.com

These two sites will be registered with the same IP in the DNS server.

Is this possible?

For example yahoo also has the same functionality. When I type

www.mail.yahoo.com or
www.ymail.com or
www.yahoomail.com

All these requests route to only one server. So I hope this is possible. I am not sure anyhow.

If this is possible then I have another question. At the server end, can I know what address the client typed to send the request? I want this because if the client types www.chaitanya.com I have to show him a welcome page, when he types www.karthik.com I have to show him another welcome page.

Thank you all in advance. Good day

Do you really mean it? Do you think someone will have the same question. I think this is the most dumb question I asked till now.

Yes, I mean it. An aspect of being part of a community is sharing knowledge. What you've done here is to say "I've got my answer, the rest of you can figure it out for yourselves."
I've read about this kind of thing at the checkout counter. That's where I met this tiny ad:
