I intend to create a patches for my standalone Java application which i would wrap with an exe installer.
I know i can create a exe from a jar using tools like install4j or other open source tools.
But how do i go about creating patches or may be automatic updates ?
Which option would you prefer and why ? One con of creating a patch file that i know of ,is security.
The frequency of updates would be around an update every two days , and not all users have to be the audience to an update.

What kind of patch are you thinking about?

Not sure what you mean there.

That sounds like a problem JavaWebStart (a.k.a JNLP) apps is designed to address.

What i meant was that i have to give an exe which wraps the jar, due to which i won't be able to access the jar and hence replace the class files.
But for patch i would have to give the jar to the user which can always be decompiled !
