There seems to be something wrong with the StringEntity class of org.apache.http.entity.StringEntity in version 4.2.1 of HttpClient. It seems to choke on an attempt to retrieve the Charset. I did a quick fix by using a modified class locally inside NetBeans which overrides the class inside the jar. The patch is available at
