We are doing a college project on library management system . There is a registration page where you have to fill up a form which has fields like e-mail id. I have done the same project using ASP.NET where we used to have the required field validator & regular expression validator . When i searched the web for tutorials in javascript , i found code for email verification which fire when the submit button is clicked (i.e an alert is shown saying email not valid). I want it to happen without button click, i.e as soon as the user goes from the email field to the next field there should be a message right of the textbox saying that the entered email was not in the right format. One of our teachers suggested putting a div next to the textbox and making it visible when the textbox is left(or something like that)

Can someone help me with ideas/tutorials for my requirement? Thanks in advance to all posters below

Change the handler from onClick() of the SUBMIT button to onBlur() of the email TEXTFIELD.

Cheers,
Raj.
