I am interested in using Frontman, but I have never used a framework. I have, however, been slowly forcing our scriplet-ridden "legacy" code into modern programming models and practices (MVC, scriplet-free, JSTL and custom tags). I have come to the point now where a framework such as Frontman just makes sense, and I appreciate the simplicity behind it.

I see that the Frontman 2.0 version is code-complete, but is still waiting on documentation. For a newcomer such as myself, should I use the 1.6.2 version, or should I be using the 2.0 version?

I'd recommend 2. The docs are incomplete but it's so small and easy to use that you shouldn't have many problems.
