Hi,

I do not know whether this is the right forum for such requests. But I have few requests for some features that I would love to see on the ranch.

1. Is there any way I can keep a watch on the Forum like I do on threads? Suppose, I am interested in Web Services Forum. So, whenever anyone posts a message, I get a notification.
2. There should be a way that I may see notifications on Ranch itself. And to add to it, I should also have option whether to have notifications mailed to my email id or just on ranch.
3. There should be a kind of Live Feed, where updates related to anything like new post on forum, reply to a thread, changes to Wiki, etc. should be fed.
4. I would like to have a Thank You button so that the people don't pile up the post with unnecessary Thank You posts. The current thumbs up button is a good thing, but I think if we would also show Thank you numbers along every user, it would help in reducing the unnecessary posts.

Thank you.

Regards,
Palak Mathur

Yes, this is the right forum for this.

I'd say some of these features are already implemented:

1. Scroll down on a forum page and press the Watch button there.
3. Have you tried RSS feeds? There are feeds for forums and threads. (I don't use RSS, though.)

OHH How the damn I missed it!! Copy a button at the top of forum as well!! (I am trying to save my face )

Neither do I. I don't like aggregators like Google Reader as well.

Can you please give an example of what you would like to see for number 3 instead of an RSS feed then?

Alternatively, there is the recent topics list (in the links at the top of the page), and the hot topics list.

For point 3, related to Live Feed. Here are the details.

Recent Posts mentions all the posts that are made around the ranch. My idea of a Live Feed is that when I login to ranch I should be taken to the home page with Live Feeds. Live Feed should be from those threads/forums which I am watching/following. Also, it would be a great addition if I can follow people, I would definitely want to follow people like Martin, Bear, Jeanne, Sean, etc. and whenever they make a post it should be available on my Live Feed.

Thanks for clarifying - that sounds interesting, and potentially something we could look into implementing. Since we are all volunteers, I can make no guarantees as to when though.

Yes. I know that you all are volunteers. But when you plan to implement and need any help, I will be willing to join (though I have never implemented anything like that on my own )

So technically a filter/subset of what "Recent Posts" shows, filtered out based on a set of criteria specified by a user's profile.

I am not aware of a way to subscribe for changes to wiki articles. I kind of remember a similar thread about this but can't find it now.

Was it on code ranch or on some other blog?
