I am a student with no working experience. I passed OCPJP 6 last week and want to go for another certification, I am confused between web component or business component certification.... which is more valuable/useful in the IT industry and considering my case (i have no knowledge of either and have to start from beginning)... i am even interested in Mobile application development. Which certification should i go for? Please help.

Regards.

Congratulations for your OCPJP 6 success !

To strengthen your career, I recommend you to go for Web Component Developer certification. Though Java EE offers different roles for development, most industry expects all kinds (design, development, Unit testing...deployment..etc) of skills.

Based on my industry experience UI coding is the majority task in any enterprise applications. So, do OCP Java EE 5 Web Component or OCE Java EE 6 Web Component certification.

You can slowly go for JPA/EJB certifications once you are familiar with Web tier components.

Best wishes for your Java career.

Thanks
Abraham.
