Scope and cost of SCEA

Am Gopinath from Chennai with 1+ experience in Java domain.
Looking to complete the SCEA certification.
How is the future for SCEA certified professional..
Whatever it is ??Can anyone give the latest cost of SCEA and SCJP certification.....

It varies by country. In the US, it costs $900 for the SCEA/OCMJEA since there are three parts plus the mandatory exam which is thousands of dollars. (Go to Oracle.com to get it for your country.) The SCJP has changed to a two part format as well so $600 in the US. And doesn't require a course.

Why do you want to take the SCEA? It doesn't sound like you have enough experience for it yet.

Further increases my opinion that the Oracle certification program is geared towards making Oracle money as opposed to getting developers certified

Certifications that are controlled by for-profit companies are always geared towards sales revenue. In these situations, the certificates, exams and related training are "products." This is not a personal opinion. This is a widely known fact.

I don't see the point in continuing with the certification program myself, so I won't be.

Maybe you have the reason, but and now? what certification non-oracle have to Architect or senior developers?

I'm switching to Python, C++ & PHP instead of getting more Java certifications.

I'm also switching from MySQL to PostresQL because Oracle own MySQL now too.

I'm done with them, you are all welcome to join me if you like

But really? really its time to go far away from Java?

I'm starting up my own company so I can use whichever technologies I choose thankfully & I choose not to use Java.

I was going to use Java but not now. I believe the introduction of mandatory courses is the sign of worse to come.

It's a shame because I spent so much time on my Programmer & Developer certifications.

Years down the line I believe Java will be resigned to legacy applications which are too big to port to other languages like how COBOL is now.
