I have joined an MNC where I have got trained in JAVA and J2EE Technologies. I am very much interested in development and learning new technologies. But I have been put into work on Production Support where I used to monitor the applications and take care of the issues. They are not ready to release me from my current project. I am aiming to become a java developer and I have been preparing for SCJP 6. Can anybody please suggest me what I have to do after clearing SCJP so that I can get a job on JAVA/J2EE in any other company? I am familiar with the C, C++, SQL,PLSQL,JAVA and J2EE but dont have any experience on any of these technologies. Will I be able to get a job on these technologies after working for more than 1 year in production support??

Welcome to CodeRanch!

Of course. You are currently entry level. Gaining experience of any type is a good thing. Keep learning. Ask about opportunities after your current project. (Or apply for an entry level job elsewhere since you have been there a year)

Talk to your manager. Since production support gives you a good understanding of the domain, you can try and convince your manager that your domain knowledge will be a plus.

If you know some Java and SQL, you can try for entry level development roles.
