I am trying to get my certification in Java. I want to try and do the training online but I do not know where I can go to take the exam. Is Prometric a decent company to take the exam? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to CodeRanch!

Well, as a matter of fact, now, certification agency has been changed to Pearson VUE (instead of Prometric). And regarding 'decency', technically, you don't have a choice But I never had any problem at Prometric (during SUN days) or Pearson VUE center.

For the detailed procedure, you can go through certification FAQs of this forum. If you still have any doubts, we would like to hear.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply,

I looked through the certification section and I still have a few questions.

1. What is the most entry level certification?
2. Where can I find training for it?
3. Do you have to receive training through Oracle to take an exam?

Please find my answers for your questions:

1. What is the most entry level certification?
Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer certification. It does not require any pre-requisite. You can read this article to know more about this certification.

2. Where can I find training for it?
You can search it on Oracle's website.

3. Do you have to receive training through Oracle to take an exam?
No.
