requirements of scjp

I am planning to give exam the SCJP. Please tell me all the pre-requirements i need. What things i should know in java?? and do i need any previous certification??

It depends what version of Programmer cert you talking about.

OCPJP 5 or 6 needs no prereq
OCPJP 7 needs OCAJP 7 and OCAJP7 needs no prereq

Which ever path you choose, it is recommended you have at least 6 months of Java experience.

Going through the exam objectives is a good point to start.
