Early in my IT career I read some advice to the young that said to be careful when slinging acronyms for the latest and greatest. If your seniors pause as if they don't immediately know what the acronym stands for, realize that it's not that they don't know what XYZ stands for. It's that they know a half dozen things XYZ could stand for and are sorting out which could be relevant to the present conversation.
